Less checking in. More getting there.

A clearer picture
of your team.

For group trips, volunteer teams and days out together. See the latest shared position, agree a meeting point and find your way there.

Team locations

See teammates on the same map, with connection status and GPS-fix age. Know the difference between a current position and an older update.

Shared pins & directions

Share up to three pins of your own for meeting points or destinations. Navigate to a pin or teammate from the app.

Follow Me

Leading the way? Request followers. Teammates choose whether to follow, with navigation close at hand.

Private by design

Your team’s content.
For invited devices.

Team names, shared locations, pins and recent trails are encrypted on participating devices. The relay forwards encrypted team messages without holding the team’s content-decryption keys.

You choose what to share

Location sharing is a separate choice and needs iOS permission. Optional background sharing needs its own opt-in and appropriate permission.

Invitations matter

Invite people you trust. Members can see shared team content and could copy it; encryption cannot prevent that.

Clear about the limits

Connection and membership metadata remains visible to the service. Maps and routing requests are outside team E2EE and can disclose map areas or route coordinates to providers.

A little more context

Make the map
work for your group.

Optional recent trail

Choose to share a short recent trail so teammates can see where you’ve been—not just your last position.

Your own map layers

Import KML, KMZ or GeoJSON files to bring useful boundaries, lines and places into view.

A view that suits you

Switch between 2D and 3D, choose marker colours and adjust the map as your team moves.

Before you head out

A few useful answers.

How do I try PatrolGrid?

The encrypted iPhone app is in beta, not a public App Store release. Email to request access. Access is subject to availability; please don’t send passwords, invitation codes or location screenshots.

Does everyone need an account?

No PatrolGrid account is required. iPhone participants need the encrypted app and a private team invitation. An invited browser observer can view the team without publishing a phone location.

Does location sharing stay on all the time?

No. You choose sharing separately from joining a team. Background sharing requires its own opt-in and appropriate iOS permission. Stopping sharing or leaving a team cannot recall information another participant has already seen or copied.

What happens without a connection?

Location updates depend on connectivity, device permissions and a usable GPS fix. Check the connection state and fix age before relying on a position. An old position is not proof that someone is still there.

How long does a team last?

Teams expire twelve hours after creation, or the creator can end them sooner. They are temporary spaces, not a permanent route archive. Metadata, local recovery records and backups have separate retention rules described in the privacy notice.

Can I use it for emergency or safety-critical work?

No. PatrolGrid is a test product, not an emergency service or a substitute for reliable safety communications. Stop somewhere safe before using the controls; never interact while driving.

Help shape what comes next
